(RED) has spent 20 years turning shopping and giving into funding for the fight against AIDS. Its WordPress site hadn’t kept pace, and every small content change went through an outside developer. Together with WenLaunch Studios, led by Framer Expert Mason Price, (RED) rebuilt the entire site in Framer in about a month and handed publishing to its own team.

A site the creative team could run

Over the past two decades, (RED) has worked with some of the world’s biggest brands, including Apple, Beats, Bank of America, Salesforce, and Vespa. So far, it has raised more than $800 million for the Global Fund, helping support programs that have reached more than 350 million people.

For years, (RED)’s website ran on WordPress, where even small updates had to go through an outside developer. That slow loop boxed in the team’s creative work, while the design itself hadn’t kept pace with the brand. Creative Director Kevin Reardon wanted his team to be able to run the site directly.

Moving from WordPress to Framer

(RED) worked with WenLaunch Studios, a studio led by Framer Expert Mason Price. The full project took one month. They imported its content into Framer’s CMS with help from the Framer agent: nearly 500 items across seven collections, including partner pages and (RED)ITORIAL, the brand’s editorial hub, moved over in minutes. Redirects handle the move from the old WordPress URLs.

More freedom to design and publish

Moving to Framer gave WenLaunch more control over the design. They could build custom components and fine-tune interactions and scroll effects, while keeping the pages editable for (RED)’s creative team.

Five team members used Framer’s branching to collaborate on updates during the first month after launch. They shared previews and reviewed changes before publishing them to their domain, keeping work in progress separate from the live site.

“The site finally looks and feels like (RED). When a new partner or campaign is ready, our creative team can get it live that day. We can work on changes together and review them before publishing, without filing a ticket or waiting for an outside developer.”

Publishing on (RED)’s schedule

Since launch, (RED)’s creative team has run the site day to day, publishing new partner launches and (RED)ITORIAL stories themselves. In September, the site’s launch month, they published hundreds of updates. What once required an outside developer can now go live directly from the team working on it.
