How Zapier brings a new world to life for ZapConnect every year

“We design the world, and Framer lets Adriano Reis, our Framer Expert, bring it to life exactly as we imagined, without losing the details along the way.”

Donna Fung

Senior Brand Designer at

Zapier

Every year, Zapier’s brand team dreams up a new digital world for ZapConnect, its community conference. In 2025, attendees wandered through a glowing landscape. In 2026, they arrive in a full metropolis, with illustrations by Gizem Akdag. Each edition starts from scratch, with its own concept and visual language. Behind it all, Zapier’s Donna Fung works with the wider brand team and Framer Expert Adriano Reis to bring each year’s vision to life.

A collaborator, not a one-off hire

Adriano Reis built the first ZapConnect site in 2025 and returned for its second edition in 2026. While the creative direction changes completely each year, the way he and Donna work together has become a consistent part of the process.

Donna and the wider Zapier team shape the creative direction, while Adriano starts bringing it into Framer before the design is finished. Together, they refine layouts, interactions, and animations until the finished site matches the original vision, without losing the details along the way. Instead of waiting for a finished handoff, the people imagining the world are the same people bringing it to life.

That collaboration has since expanded beyond ZapConnect. Adriano has also built Zapier’s AI Transformation and Govern pages in Framer, hosted through a reverse proxy on Zapier’s own infrastructure.

Same project, not a handoff

Framer allows Donna, Adriano, and the rest of the Zapier team to work together in the same project. Changes are visible to everyone right away. No files to export or specs to write up.

“I don’t really wait for a full handoff from Donna before I start building. Once a design is in a good place, Framer lets me iterate on the layouts and animations in real time. I use branching so I can publish and review my work without blocking the rest of the Zapier team.”

Framer Expert

Branching gives Adriano space to work through changes without getting in the way of the main project. Once a branch is ready, the team can review it and publish it to the live site, while Donna and Adriano keep refining copy, layouts, animations, and new sections right up to launch and during the event itself.

The team also adapts Framer to fit the way they already work. For ZapConnect, the team built a setup in Cursor connected to a Google Sheet. Rather than rebuilding it in the Framer CMS, they brought it into the site as a code component, preserving the workflow.
